R.E.A.C.H. MVV Article 7-2018 – “Un Pequeno Paseo – Explore San Benito”

It’s SUMMER!  The daylight hours invite us out after work and dinner.  It seems that every organization is offering something to do with your time, friends and family.  R.E.A.C.H. (SBPF) San Benito Parks Foundation has the Adventure Parks Challenge!  If you’re an “online user”, Instagrammer, “Facebook-er”, you’ll get a kick out of this.  A few people form a Team, make a Team Flag, register online, and you’ll receive a list of things to do together all summer long. If you post pictures of your Team and Flag at the Challenge locations, you’ll be eligible for prizes that will be added weekly.  It really should be fun!

Last month I wrote that R.E.A.C.H. would be leading a walk a month.  Saturday, June 30, we will meet up at the San Juan Soccer Field at 5:15pm.  Because we won’t truly be following the “Walking San Benito”, by Jim Ostdick, we decided to re-name our walks to reflect the character of the county: “Un Pequeno Paseo – Explore San Benito!”   A Little Walk, how cool is that!

Sometimes we just need a little encouragement to start up a walking routine, so Un Pequeno Paseo will target walks of about an hour in length, more or less.  Some walks will be more structured some loosie-goosie.  All online-registered Adventure Parks Challengers can use these walks for prizes also!  So, register online, or just show up at the time and place announced each month. The JULY Paseo/ Walk will be to St. Frances Retreat on Tuesday, July 31,at 5:15pm, meeting at the triangle of roads to Windhaven/St. Frances. Mr. Ed De Groot, at the Retreat, said we will be welcome to view the valley and walk the trails as we wish. What a lovely way to end a hard Tuesday’s work, with personal time!  ‘R.E.A.C.H.’ will provide a couple of safety vests for front and back walkers on the road.  Mr. De Groot said, “People are walking the road all the time; not to worry.” I’ll see you then!!!!  (RSVP, if you can.)
